BOOKS! RECOMMENDATIONS, PLEASE!

Dear Constance Sisters of the Pink Apartment,

Please leave recommendations of your favorite books! My work keeps me very busy, but I really need the escape of a great book.

Thanks,

Oh books! I love books...

I will read anything (and have read everything available) by Jodi Picoult and William Bernhardt. I highly recommend them.

I thought that the Memory Keeper's Daughter, How To Be Lost, The Time Traveller's Wife, and Midwives were all good.

I could go on and on...but I'll stop with this short list - unless I think of something else...

You'll have to let us know what you read!

Hiya 99! I'm copying and pasting my tardy response to your comment on my post:

I always get a little nervous about making suggestions to people in should their opinion be the polar opposite of mine, haha!

Hmm, one of my favorite books that I've read recently was Taj Mahal: Passion and Genius at the Heart of the Moghul Empire by Diana and Michael Preston. While this book is about the history and circumstances leading up to the building of the Taj Mahal it really made me think about secular acceptance. Primarily due to the fact that when the Moghuls invaded India, things were so much more peaceful when religious freedom prevailed.

I love Christopher Moore whenever I want something light, a little twisted and funny. Hands down, Dirty Job is one of my favorite titles followed by Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff.

Sister Carrie by Theodore Dreiser. I'm at such a different place in my life now as compared 8 years ago when I initially read it - it's on my re-read list.

Right now I'm reading City of Djinns by William Dalrymple and I think it is a fantastic read. While reading I will often stop to contemplate what he is saying and take the time to envision the picture he is painting.

Another book that I really liked, which might make me seem overly odd was Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach. I really enjoyed her approach to the topic, it was easy to pick up after a long stretch and an easy read. Not to mention educational.

Sherlock Holmes is always on my list of books that I pick up here and there because I just find them so well written and enjoyable.

Anything and everything by Jennifer Weiner. I also think Jane Green is a lot of fun.
